Rate n/mm refers to Newtons per millimetre. It is a unit of measurement for spring rate, also known as spring stiffness. It indicates how much force (measured in Newtons) is required to compress or extend a spring by one millimetre. A higher spring rate indicates a stiffer spring. If this is looking "complicated" please do not hesitate to give Davies Springs a call 01527 500710, out of office hours please use our contact form and we will call you back when the office is open. Springs are our main product we make, small to large and everything in between. Most people will find either our Carbon Steel (sometimes called Piano Wire or Music Wire) a great choice, but if moisture might be an issue then a stainless steel or 316 stainless steel spring will be a better solution.

If you are looking for even more extreme performance please ask as we can use other metal wires to make the springs.
