Background
After many years of manufacturing springs, and much thought, we have taken a fresh look at standard springs available in this industry. On our website you will find that all the dimensions are in metric and go up in logical increments, unlike most other standard parts that are imperial sizes converted to metric. Going forward we feel this makes more sense. We still produce bespoke imperial sizes, as we have our own manufacturing machines (Please click on this link to take you back our contact page).
Materials
For our standard springs we offer the following metals :-
- Carbon Steel (HS3 minimum or equivalent) oiled finish part numbers start NDC
- 302 Stainless Steel (or equivalent) plain finish part numbers start STC
- 316 Stainless Steel (or equivalent) plain finish part numbers start SSC
Which is best? Depends on the environment the spring is placed in. It is not a one word answer.
For general use a carbon steel spring, with an oiled finish, would be suffice. However, if you want a more rust resistant spring, use 302 stainless. If your application is for the food or medical industries (among others), use 316 stainless (this is the purest form of a standard with less carbon content).
Sizes
Our standard range has roughly 2400 springs available in each of the three mentioned materials. These are split into sections and by using the filters at the top of the page you can locate the section of the size you are looking for.

Quantities
Each spring option has a minimum quantity for ordering. For example, if the minimum order is 14, and you only want 2, we can supply 2 but the total price will remain the same as for 14.
Stocked springs will be dispatched within 3 working days (depending on payment terms). Whilst Davies Springs do carry stock, if your choice is one that we don’t currently have, we will aim to dispatch within 5-7 working days.
The tables go from the minimum quantity up to 2,000, but we can supply higher volumes – again please enquire through the contact page, if you are looking for larger quantities.
How To Order
Navigate to the spring you are interested in and material, click ‘read more’ on an individual part and you will see a table with the pricing going from the minimum quantity up to 2,000.
Example If you want to order 600 springs, the nearest price break is 500. Multiply the 500 price per spring by 600 to give you the total price.

Davies Springs will review your order and advise a delivery date.
If the delivery date is agreeable, we will process your order according to your payment terms. New customers will be on a pro-forma basis and payment by BACS would be required before springs are dispatched.

Wire sizes up to and including .508mm – are supplied closed and unground.
Wire sizes .559mm and over – are supplied closed and ground.
Helix
All springs supplied Right Hand wound
Left hand wound is available by request from our contact page. Please ask when ordering, this will be made bespoke and delivery times will increase.

Davies Springs’ standard tolerances are:

- 0.00 to 3.00mm +/- 0.08mm
- 3.75 to 4.50mm +/- 0.10mm
- 5.25 to 7.75mm +/- 0.13mm
- 8.50 to 12.25mm +/- 0.20mm
- 15.25 to 24.75mm +/- 0.40mm
- 28.00 to 31.00mm +/- 0.60mm
- 37.00 to 49.25mm +/- 0.080mm
Free Length +/- 2.5%
Loads and rates are +/- 10%
Number of coils and wire diameter are for reference only and can be altered to obtain the load and rate.
